Meet John Burns - Our Chief Finance Officer
I am very proud to lead the Finance and Operations teams for Lothian Pension Fund.
We are determined to seek continuous improvement to provide sustainable, low-cost and efficient pension administration and fund accounting services for our members and their sponsoring employers. To do so, we aspire to operate with the discipline, culture and mindset of the best of private sector peers but with the accountability, transparency and legal context of a public sector body.
To enhance the customer experience of pension scheme members, we recognise that we need to respond to the challenges and opportunities of the digital services revolution and do our utmost to avoid the needless stresses which arise from poor administration. The complexities of pension administration have been overlooked and the function undervalued for far too long.
My professional background is accountancy, with financial management experience in both private and public sectors. I also serve as a member of both the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association (PLSA) Local Authority Committee (UK wide) and Pensions Administration Standards Association (PASA) Accreditation Committee.
